Okay, so if you live in the South or Southwest or even the West, you have been able to camp through the winter. Those of us here in the North….I am in Northern Illinois….have been waiting for Spring to arrive. Its not too warm yet, but it is above freezing on a daily basis. Cabin fever is about to break!
Today, I will be de-winterizing my new Rockwood trailer and get it all ready for our trip this Thursday to Kentucky to camp at my parents place.
I am an amateur military historian and so on that theme, this year, I am planning on buying a model tank kit with some paint and glue. My camping plans for this year will include some leisure time of me, under the awning, working on this model. If I don’t finish it during the first trip….thats okay….I will just work on it during the next one! I enjoy the idea of having that type of leisure and relaxation.
As well as the model building, I think I will be bringing my guitar too. I used to play a bit, but was never proficient. I told my wife that I thought it would be fun to bring it and practice during some of my leisure time. She surprised me with a gift of a book of guitar chords. That will be fun too…..but maybe not for others…so don’t worry…if you are next to us, I will keep it quiet!
I am a bit concerned about the price of gasoline (I am trying to avoid giving my political opinions on this subject!). I don’t want it to stop us from going camping and I don’t intend on it doing that. If, however, it gets really high, I might look into a seasonal site.
So, how are your Spring camping plans going? What things are you planning on doing in preparation and what leisure things will you be doing this year?
Happy camping and see you next Sunday!
