Stroudsburg is the oldest town in this region of the Pocono Mountains and it cherishes that legacy. The 1795 mansion of founder Jacob Stroud still stands on Main Street as the finest example of Georgian-style architecture in Monroe County. Slate sidewalks line the streets of the traditional, tree-lined downtown that brims with art galleries, boutiques and cafes.

Stroudsburg is the gateway to the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, with hikes to 1,527-foot Mt. Tammany and 1,463-foot Mt. Minsi on opposite sides of the Delaware River, one of the last free-flowing rivers for paddlers to enjoy in the eastern United States. Close by is the famous Bushkill Falls—the “Niagara of Pennsylvania”—with eight waterfalls accessed by a spiderweb of hiking trails and wooden bridges.
