Staying fit as a full-timer. Can it be done?

From the desk of the “firedude

Well of course it can. I happen to have a great coach and he inspired me to get back into a routine and get myself back into a decent shape and stay healthy. Over the last few years Jack LaLanne and I have become very good friends and he stops nearly every day to see me. I noticed I had been putting weight on and not exercising near what I did as a firefighter. It’s easy to get caught up in a routine where you just don’t get the exercise you need or eat properly. Jack asked me one day, do full-time Rv’ers just sit on their behinds and do nothing? He says he never sees anyone out and about when he’s here in the the campground. He drove a sensible 2000 calorie diet a day into my head and simnply walking every day. He really preaches 1500 a day, but I’d never make it! Boy did it help. He told me one day he didn’t want to stop by and find me dead sitting here behind the computer. Well that scared me and made me slip into action. We all need to get some sort of exercise and eat properly . Even Jack says splurging is part of it. We have to reward ourselves now and then. This all comes from a man who’s TV fitness program ran 35 years! He’s now in his mid 90’s and sharp as a whip and his abs are better than I ever hoped for. We need to take care of ourselves.

My co moderator DianneOK has really inspired me as well as she has lost a lot of weight and walks nearly 5 miles a day! Like Jack says just plain old sensible eating and exercise is all we really need. Of course eating the good healthy stuff, but exercise! keep away from the junk foods, eating good fruit etc.  it’s so easy to fall prey to doing nothing and especially me who is someone who spends a lot of time sitting behind the computer as a lot of us do. Chime in with your routine here and your daily diet. Lets all keep ourselves in shape and good health!  Full-timers or not in today’s world of computers, fast foods and lack of exercise we need and owe it to ourselves to take care and stay healthy. Again feel free to chime in with your routines to give us all ideas on staying healthy and in good shape. living in a RV does not mean you can’t get the exercise you need! How can you not listen to or doubt someone like Jack?  Here’s a picture of Jack and I about a week ago my son took. we were flexing our “stuff”. Lets hear your tips and routines so maybe we can all help each other. I know I’d like to live as long as Jack! He did tell me the day this photo was taken he hated standing next to me as he felt like he was standing in a hole! I told him well Jack you need to exercise more and he laughed and thought that was pretty hilarious.
