San Diego RV Resort

Whether it’s a weekend stopover or an extended stay, San Diego RV Resort (SDRV) puts the best of America’s Finest City at your doorstep. This 147-site RV park features all the amenities you’ve come to expect from a Top Good Sam Park, with the added bonus of direct access to the San Diego Trolley.

From your home base of SDRV, you and your family can easily explore all that San Diego has to offer. Take these three journeys for a great RV excursion

1. Old Town to Downtown

Twelve stops from SDRV’s 70th Street Station and you’re back in the “Birthplace of California.” Old Town San Diego celebrates the area’s heritage with authentic Mexican restaurants, quaint boutiques, and historical gems like the Casa de Estudillo–an adobe hacienda built in 1825. Old Town really comes alive during two of their biggest, most popular celebrations: Cinco de Mayo and Dios de Muertos. Old Town is also home to the Mormon Battalion historic site, which honors the battalion’s impact on San Diego.

Just three trolley stops further is the neighborhood of Little Italy. Stop by on Saturdays for the Little Italy Mercato, when over 100 vendors line the streets to sell everything from organic produce to jewelry. Take in the sunshine and live music while enjoying treats from the traditional Italian cafes and restaurants. “Finito” in Little Italy? Head a few blocks to the USS Midway. Featuring 29 restored aircrafts and 60 exhibits, the retired aircraft carrier is the most-visited naval ship museum in the world. Finally, complete your whirlwind downtown adventure with a San Diego Padres game at the open-air ballpark, Petco Park.

2. It’s a Zoo Out There

Why stress over parking at one of San Diego’s busiest attractions? Instead, take the trolley from SDRV to the 100-acre San Diego Zoo. Kick off the visit with a double-decker bus ride to guide you through many of the zoo’s most popular exhibits. This global animal adventure features zoo favorites and exotic creatures like giant pandas, African okapis and Malayan sun bears. Go down under to the new Australian Outback exhibit, which houses the largest koala colony outside of their native Australia, laughing kookaburras, and more. For a special treat, become a zoo VIP and go behind the scenes to feed the animals and create memories of a lifetime.

3. Sea of Possibilities

From SDRV, hop off at Little Italy and hit the harbor where many of the popular whale watching excursions set sail. From mid-June through September the world’s largest creature, the endangered blue whale, feeds off of the California coast. Normally ranging between 2,000 and 3,000, this is the largest group of blue whales on earth. December to April, join the last leg of the 10,000-mile journey made by over 20,000 gray whales en route to Baja, Mexico.
