Lube Your Slide Out Rubber – Or Else!

While lubing your slide out metal with the Camco stuff (http://goo.gl/cy5fk6), you might as well maintain the rubber seals with Thetford Rubber Seal Lubricant (http://goo.gl/tmBSs0). Functioning rubber is actually crucial to the longevity of your RV. Both RV slide outs and cargo bays are often trimmed with rubber.

If a rubber seal begins to crack, water leaks won’t be far behind. Frankly, water kills RVs. It’s invasive water that leads to floor rot, mold, mildew, and a host of other problems. So rubber seals are a lot more important than they may appear at first glance. In many RVs, rubber seals are the key to repelling outside elements.

The problem with rubber? Once it goes, it’s gone. Dry rot should be avoided at all costs. There’s no bringing back rubber that’s been allowed to deteriorate beyond the point of no return.

Rubber seals that have lost their effectiveness must be replaced immediately. Of course, replacing rubber seals can be a costly and time consuming process. It’s much better to take proper care of the rubber so that it ages well.

Thetford Rubber Seal Lubricant is specially formulated with RV rubber in mind. It prevents fading, cracking and deterioration of RV rubber seals.

This lubricant also cleans, conditions and shines while providing all important UV protection.

With a little practice, the Thetford spray is easy enough to apply. Try holding the can about four inches from the application surface. The lubricant sprays in a stream that starts foamy and eventually transitions to liquid, so it can be a little messy. You may want to wipe in a treatment with a cloth or a plastic glove to ensure you get the most of each application. It’s also a good idea to wipe excess off non-rubber surfaces.

A thorough application leaves rubber seals more supple and pliable. Got a squeaky slide out? This stuff has been known to stop squeaks (of the non-mouse variety).

Thetford is a trusted name in RV camping, and this rubber seal lubricant is well regarded by RV campers. This sort of product is a small investment towards the longevity of your RV rig.
