Crater Lake will always be a special place for me and my wife Jennifer. We met here the summer after our freshman year of college. I was employed as a tour boat driver down on the lake, and Jennifer clerked in the gift shop. In the evenings, we both performed in the nightly talent shows that were featured in the lodge.
This particular view of the lake, looking north, was taken along Rim Drive a few miles northwest of the main parking lot at the gift shop. The predominant terrain feature is Llao Rock, the highest point on the rim of the caldera. At 1,932 feet deep, this is the deepest lake in the United States, and the intense blue color of the water must be seen to be believed.
