Make a Splash in Aurora, Ohio

As one of the tonier suburbs fanning out around the Cleveland Metroplex, Aurora is known for its fine golf courses. Beyond the links, more good times can be found. There is the annual Ox Roast Fair that has been going on in July for half a century, the Blossom Time Cherry Festival in May and the Great Geauga County Fair in September.

Planning a visit? Stay at Round Up Lake Campground.

During the hot days of summer, bring the kids to the Wildwater Kingdom water park, which boasts Ohio’s tallest water-slide complex. Attractions like Coral Cove, Liquid Lightning and Splash Landing attract kids of all ages to cool off and enjoy thrills at the same time.

The landscape of the region was sculpted thousands of years ago by retreating glaciers, which gouged the limestone bedrock that weathered and cracked into fanciful blocks of RV-sized “ledges.” These geological features can be found in area parks and make for excellent photo opportunities. Tinker’s Creek Gorge is one such place; Tinker’s Creek State Park, where the largest tributary of the Cuyahoga River rises, is a jumble of lakes and marshes that is perfect beaver habitat.
