Lewis Clark Valley: Your Basecamp to Hells Canyon

North America’s Deepest River Gorge — A jet boat with red canopy skims across a river.

Explore the vast rugged beauty of Hells Canyon, North America’s deepest river gorge, carved out by the wild and scenic Snake River that winds its way through the steep canyon walls. The canyon can be best seen from the Snake River aboard a guided jet boat tour as you take in breath-taking whitewater, abundant wildlife, stories of the region’s ancestors and world-class fishing deep in the canyon. The stretch of river between Lewiston, Idaho and Clarkston, Washington will dazzle your senses.

Riding on the River

Your journey upriver begins in the beautiful Lewis-Clark Valley, your basecamp to Hells Canyon. The comfortable, durable tour boats are built out of welded aluminum and engineered to maneuver the rapids and rugged canyon conditions with ease. Your tour guides will regale you with tales of the native Nez Perce Indians, of steamboats sinking and mining communities. They’ll point out petroglyphs, blue heron, eagles and bighorn sheep. The tour will stop on white, sandy beaches to allow you time to play in the water, eat lunch and take a trip back in time at the Kirkwood Historical Ranch.
