Among the most popular pastimes are boat tours along the water. Since 1946, many of those boat tours have taken place on army surplus amphibious crafts that Bob Unger introduced as the world’s first Duck boats. Boat rides are still popular, but today’s visitor knows the Dells as an entertainment smorgasbord with amusement parks, ziplines, go-kart tracks, miniature golf, real golf, water ski shows and a casino. And lots of waterparks—indeed, this is the “Waterpark Capital of the World.”

The Dells Scenic River Walk serves up quiet views of the Dells’ famous scenery from access points along River Road. Outdoor recreation abounds with hiking in Rocky Arbor State Park, paddleboarding at Mirror Lake State Park and kayaking on the Wisconsin River.
