Happy and Sad News…..
Okay, so the sad news first. We are getting rid of our travel trailer. Why? Glad you asked. You see, when we bought our trailer, it was in June of 2006 and it was our first (new) trailer. This one was the one to cut our teeth on and to find out just how much we liked owning and using a travel trailer.
What has our first travel trailer taught us? On the positive side, we love the fresh water tank! Why? Well, there is nothing like being on a long drive and having to stop for a rest room break and to have our own facilities instead of using some dirty old public restroom. We enjoy feeling as though a piece of our house is with us at all times. We love all the conveniences of having our travel trailer! Besides having the obvious things, like food, drinks, etc., I have also been known to stop on a long drive and take a nap. One time, I was so tired, we stopped at a rest area and I took a refreshing shower….it was just what I needed! And we can’t forget about the mods!
So back to the question at hand, why are we getting rid of this travel trailer? The answer is easy and probably obvious to some (and this is the good news by the way)! We are buying a new travel trailer! Yep…that’s right after less than two years of ownership; we are buying a new trailer. Why would we do this? It’s actually quite simple. We have learned what we like about our trailer and yes, even things we don’t like. There is nothing about the brand that we disliked. In fact, I would highly recommend the Four Winds Express Lite (18B) series to anyone wishing to get s tarted in camping.
The things we wanted are more room and comfort. Our current trailer is 23’ long and it has all the conveniences that anyone would want, but when it came down to relaxation time inside the trailer, there just wasn’t enough seating. I really admired the rear lounge trailers. Also, we want a lot of glass on all sides, including the front.
We decided to buy the Rockwood 8314SS. This unit has a great floorplan with the rear lounge and we are very excited about receiving it very soon. This does put us into the advanced arena for sure as this new trailer is 33’ long. It is exciting and what I learned through this whole process of looking is that it just never gets boring. I would like to say that this is the last one for a long time, but for those of us in this hobby, we know how far that will go!
Now, as for that tow vehicle…..hhhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmm.
Happy camping and see you next Sunday!
