DEAL: Actron OBD2 “Check Engine” Light Code Reader

I’ve previously written about the Autel Maxiscan MS300 (http://goo.gl/SUTM7M) code reader that enables owners to read and ERASE “check engine” lights. This week you can buy the popular Actron CP9125 PocketScan (http://goo.gl/gfVT99) for a nice price. As part of Amazon’s “Black Friday” Thanksgiving week online sales specials, the PocketScan has been marked down 74%.

The Actron is similar to the MS300, but it has a few extra bells & whistles.

KILL YOUR CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS! Every vehicle owner needs an OBDII code reader. (Click the pic for more info.)

The Actron unit is designed for novices. One of the nicest features is a big “ERASE” button that allows you to easily erase error codes and turn off “check engine” lights.

Also, the PocketScan claims to be upgradable, so in theory you will have compatibility with future vehicles.

If you’ve never owned an OBDII scan tool, these things should be in every toolkit.

A scan tool enables you to read OBD II diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) from the on-board computers of 1996 and newer cars and light trucks.

This gives you the ability to quickly determine the cause of the “Check Engine” light.

You can't go wrong with the simple Maxiscan. Much like cheap beer, it does the job. (Click the pic for more info.)

The PocketScan lets you clear the trouble codes and turn off the light. Sometimes the errors are minor and that’s the end of the story.

Sometimes, of course, you need to make repairs to be assured that the “check engine” light will be gone for good.

Whether you opt for the inexpensive Maxiscan or you want the “ERASE” button of the Actron, you’ll be happy to own one of these tools.
