Creative Uses For RVs

Creative Uses for RVs can range from using it as a guest house or simply using it for added storage space, even if for just a short time to maximize your space in the house or garage. Whether you have an extended guest who needs their own space (think guests with young kids or simply very private people), the RV can come in quite handy as just the space for them to come and stay with you, without actually having to stay under the same roof as you.

My grandparents will often times use their RV in this way if they are expecting guests to stay for an extended amount of time. They sometimes allow their guests to stay in the RV, while other times they give their guests full use of the house and they themselves stay in the RV. Once, when we were newlyweds and visiting my grandparents, they gave us use of the RV during our stay, which allowed us to have our own private space outside of their house. The nice part was we had our own little comfortable private “studio” and also had full access of the house and kitchen, which was just a few steps away.

Another time, once we came back to visit them with two kids in tow, they themselves stayed in their RV while we stayed in their house. This made sense to them, I think, because when they had had enough of the kids and the noise, they were able to retreat to the comfort and safety of the RV, and away from the kids. It also allowed us to have multiple rooms to stay in, which is much more convenient when putting kids down for the night (when they are in their own room). The RV turned out to be quite the home away from home (as well as a safe haven) for them, even without moving it off of the driveway.

Using the RV for storage doesn’t sound like the most ideal use for an RV, but when in a pinch for storage space, it can come in quite handy. A friend of ours was recently going through a divorce and needed extra storage space and the RV was the perfect, safe place to store her things temporarily until she could figure out housing and such. While it was a short-lived situation, it was just what she needed and proved to be the ideal location for her things, that didn’t require her to spend a dime or worry over where her belongings were.

Creative Uses for RVs range from ordinary (storage) to extraordinary (private guest house) and actually make your RV a valuable asset that can be used for more than you might have originally thought when you first drove it off the lot.
