During your visit to Jasper County, stay at the Rolling Acres RV Park. It’s conveniently located just across from the Iowa Speedway! Wayne and Helen Rose welcome you and your pets to their family-friendly park from April 1 to October 31 each year.
The park hosts 68 RV sites (59 gravel and 9 grass) with good gravel interior roads. Level pull-thrus measure 20’x62’ and back-ins measure 26’x 60’. Enjoy free WiFi Internet access and free hot showers! Rolling Acres also features a dump station, pay phone, coin laundry room and camp store for basic supplies like ice and fire wood.
Rates: Nightly rates are based on 1 or 2 people; 7 percent sales tax not included. Full hookups (50 amp) cost $30, full hookups (30 amp) cost $28, E/W only (30 amp) costs $26, E/W only (20 amp) costs $22 and dry camping costs $20. Each additional camper costs $2 per night (non-race weekends), and children 2 and under are free. Special race weekend packages are available. Members of Good Sam Club or AAA receive a 10 percent discount!
Pets: Please keep your pets on a leash and pick up after them. You cannot leave your pet unattended. Pets that infringe on the peace and enjoyment of other guests are not welcome.
Tour Maytag Dairy Farms to taste the blue cheese and see the Holstein herd, successors to the famous show herd started by appliance heir E.H. Maytag in 1919. They make their cheese with sweet Iowa milk using a method developed by Iowa State University in 1941.
Locomotive enthusiasts will enjoy Trainland USA, the operating toy train museum located in Colfax, Iowa, a few miles west of Newton. Glass-enclosed scenes depict various phases of railroad history from across the country. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for kids 12 and under, $4.50 for adults age 55+ and free for kids under 2.
Climate: Newton features a typical Midwestern climate of hot, humid summers with temperatures frequently near 90°F and occasionally up to 100°F. Summer rain and thunderstorms (and tornadoes) are common. Winter brings chilly temperatures (near freezing) with snowfall.
