Crazy RV Swap?

Call Me Crazy!

After our Door County adventure last week and after getting our trailer home, I called our dealer, House of Camping in Bridgeview Illinois about two problems I had and needed them fixed. While on the phone with my dealer, I asked him if he still had another model we had looked at. Perhaps I should rewind a bit on this so you all can be on the same page as me.

When we bought our Rockwood 8314SS travel trailer, we really struggled with the decision between that model and the 8315BSS. The 8314SS has the rear lounge with large windows and a front bedroom. The living room/dining area has a large slide giving ample room. The 8415BSS has two slides and has a large front kitchen area. The slides are for the living/dining area and the other slide is for the bedroom. We loved the 8315BSS bedroom and we loved the 8314SS rear lounge.

Ultimately, we chose the 8314SS for the rear living room and really do like it quite a bit, but are not very fond of the bedroom. My son uses the bedroom as his space and we use the couch that makes into a queen bed.

Back to my conversation with my dealer; I asked him if he still had the 8315BSS to which he replied that he did not. Instead, he advised me that Forest River is coming out with a new Rockwood 8314 which has the rear lounge, but it also has the slide for the bedroom! This is where I need you to tell me I’m crazy!

The dealer will have the new model in mid August and we are on the top of the list to view the new model. I am seriously considering trading my 2008 8314SS that I bought in February for the new model 2009 8314 just six months after I bought the first one.

Now, here’s where it really gets crazy. For the heck of it, I took a look at some Class A RVs as someday that is something I would really like to upgrade up to. I called Camping World of Chicago and asked them if they would consider taking both my 2008 8314SS and my 2001 Ford Excursion in trade for a Class A RV. They said they would be willing to do just that. This would solve the problem of my selling my tow vehicle and travel trailer should I go this route.

Okay people…..tell me I’m crazy…..or tell me what I want to hear (so I can show my wife).

Happy camping and see you next Sunday!
