American RV Resort is one of New Mexico’s premier RV campgrounds, offering 185 sites with full hookups (30/50 amp) in a beautifully landscaped setting accessible by well-paved roads. Big pull-thrus and back-ins accommodate RVs up to 55 feet with room for slideouts.

Each site is equipped with free cable TV and WIFI Internet access. The ADA-accessible park offers a free continental breakfast daily to get your day of relaxing or sightseeing off to a robust start. Area Attractions: Without a doubt you must go to The National Museum of Nuclear Science & History while you’re in Albuquerque. The museum’s mission is to be America’s resource for nuclear history and science, which it achieves by presenting exhibits and educational programs to convey the diverse circumstances that shaped the context of the nuclear age. The museum is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $8 for adults, $7 for youth and seniors 60+, and $6 for Active Military. Children 5 and under get in free.

NASCAR fans will appreciate the Unser Racing Museum, honoring four generations of the famous New Mexico racing family. Open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Admission is $7 for adults, $3 for children 7-12 and $4 for seniors age 55+. Children 6 and under get in free.

For a more natural experience, check out the Rio Grande Nature Center. This state park features nature trails and ponds for bird watching and wildlife viewing along a riparian oasis in the high desert.

If you’d like a daytrip on a scenic road off the major interstates, try the Turquoise Trail National Scenic Byway. The Trail’s website has an interactive map to guide you to intriguing shops and stops along the way. This is an ideal half-day route to get you up to Santa Fe so you can journey through northern New Mexico on Woodall’s One Tank Trip.

Climate: New Mexico enjoys 335 days of sunshine annually. April brings average highs of 70°F and lows of 40°F with low humidity. Since Albuquerque is over 5,000 feet in elevation, take it easy while you adjust to the high altitude to avoid over-exerting yourself.
