Resolving Your RV Disputes

Action Line brings members and businesses together

Dear Action Line,

While snowbirding last winter, we needed some warranty work done on our 2010 Fleetwood Discovery motorhome. We took our coach to Holiday World of Houston to have repairs done which included installing a new Dometic icemaker.

When the new icemaker didn’t work, the service technicians diagnosed a pinched or kinked supply line. They ordered a new one while we weren’t there, and when we returned, we told them we had to be in New Orleans shortly and to cancel the order. The service writer assured us they would do so, and we were on our way without a working icemaker. No big deal.

When we returned home, we took our coach to US Adventure RV in Davenport, Louisiana to repair the kinked waterline. Mitch Millhollin contacted Dometic, and Dometic said that the claim had already been paid to Holiday World. Mitch called Holiday World, and they weren’t able to find the waterline. He finally cajoled a new waterline from Dometic, but they refused to pay the labor costs to install it. As a result, we had to pay the $180.40 to have it installed.

Holiday World said they never received the waterline, yet Dometic says it was sent. We just want our $180.40 refunded from the responsible party.

Howard DeVrieze, Rock Island, Illinois

Dear Action Line,

We are in receipt of your letter in regard to Howard DeVrieze’s issues with his Dometic refrigerator. We appreciate the trust and the investment he has made in the purchase of his product. We acknowledge his disappointment with the expense involved to repair his unit. Dometic endeavors to build quality products that will last for many years and be desired and respected by our customers.

According to our records, we authorized payment of the waterline replacement under warranty to US Adventure RV, but they have not yet filed a claim to collect that payment. We will delete that authorization and instead provide a check directly to the customer for $180.40 for the out-of-pocket expense.

We appreciate this opportunity to address your situation and hope all his future travels are trouble free.

Kristy Kelmedy, Dometic Corporation
