Yellow Jacket RV Resort: Fun and Adventure on the Suwanee River

Experience northern Florida’s Suwanee River in luxury by staying at the Yellow Jacket RV Resort in Old Town. The park offers boating, fishing and riverfront sites along its 1,300 feet of river frontage.

Active travelers can rent on of the pontoon boats offered by the campground; if you’ve brought your own boat, you can use the park’s launch ramp for free. Do you prefer dry land? Walk one of the nature trails that lead through the thousands of acres of wildlife refuges surrounding the park. Explore the crystal springs that feed the Suwanee, go on a hunting trip or simply kick back at the park’s well-appointed clubhouse or pavilion.

After a busy day, guests can relax in one of the park’s 67 full-hook up spaces with 30/50 amp power. Wi-Fi is available throughout the park along with cable TV. Each space has its own picnic table and fire ring, and drivers of larger vehicles can reserve big rig site. Also available are pull-thru sites.

Relaxation and Adventure

Social RVers will have no trouble making friends at Yellow Jacket RV Resort.  The clubhouse has a rec hall and year-round heated pool and spa for fun and relaxation. If you’re camping with a group, schedule an event at the resort’s pavilion, which is equipped with a kitchen for those potluck dishes.

Adventurous guests can explore the resort’s extensive docks. Watch the action from an observation deck or take family and friends on a ride aboard one of the pontoon boats for rent. Yellow Jacket rentals range from large pontoon boats that can seat several passengers to smaller Jon Boats.

Bring a pole, because the Suwanee is a prime fishing destination: Suwanee bass, large mouth bass, bream, red bellies, crappie and catfish bite in the river’s current. After dark, trade stories about fishing conquests as you sit around the resort’s big fire ring.

Beyond the Suwanee River, the local area abounds with attractions. Explore the hundreds of small, scenic springs that feed the Suwanee. Go on a scuba dive in the crystal clear waters for a one-of-a-kind vacation experience. The resort staff will help you find the right outfitter, whether you’re a beginner or an experienced diver.

Surrounding Attractions

Yellow Jack RV Resort is close to several family-friendly attractions. Nature enthusiasts will love the Butterfly Rainforest, a plant-rich habitat for butterflies, hummingbirds and other tropical creatures. Bigger creatures can be found at Two Trails Ranch, home for African and Asian elephants along with zebras, turtles and exotic birds. Bring you clubs, because the Chiefland Golf and Country Club features challenging fairways in a tropical Florida setting.

Use Yellow Jacket as a springboard to adventures throughout the Sunshine State. The resort is just a few hours from Disney World, Universal Studios, Busch Gardens, Sea World, Tarpon Springs and Sponge Docks, renowned as the Sponge Capital of the World.

While staying at the resort, stock up on supplies at the Walmart Supercenter or go for a nice dinner at excellent local restaurants that serve everything from gourmet Italian fare to fresh seafood.
