Many people on our Long Long Honeymoon Facebook page have been asking for more information about the Autel MS300 and other OBD2 code scan tools. So I thought it might be helpful to look at some video, while also looking at a few other OBD2 code readers in the Autel line. I’ve had good experience working with Autel units. I like these “all in one” solutions that are simple to use.
AUTEL MAXISCAN MS300
The Autel MaxiScan MS300 CAN Diagnostic Scan Tool for OBDII Vehicles
is the handy little $20 device we use to read & erase “check engine” lights.
Does it really work?
Yes! Here’s a new YouTube VIDEO we put together that shows it in action:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5io6CCrGvME
As you’ll see in the video, the MS300 is an extremely simple code reader.
No frills, no extras – just two buttons and a small screen. But hey, it does the job.`
MAXISCAN MS509
For an extra $30 or so, a person can upgrade to the nicer Autel Maxiscan MS509.
The MS509 is a really nice OBD2 code reader. It offers a full color display, a built-in code definition library, and many other features.
AUTEL AUTOLINK AL519
But if you want to step up to a completely loaded OBD2 code reader, go for the Autel Autolink AL519.
I’m happy with my MS300, but I must admit feeling a twinge of “code reader envy” when checking out the AL519!
The AL519 has lots of cool features, but what really caught my eye is the patented one-click I/M (inspection / maintenance) readiness key for “quick State emissions readiness.”
Wow! One click to get your vehicle ready for State emission inspection? That’s a nice feature.
AUTEL ELITE MD802
Then for those who must have the finest, there’s the top-of-the-line Autel: the Autel MD802 MaxiDiag Elite Scan Tool
This thing is like something out of Lord of the Rings: “one tool to rule them all!”
The Autel MD802 MaxiDiag Elite Scan Tool
will do airbags and ABS as well as OBD2. It has all sorts of realtime monitoring features. This tool is beyond my own needs, but for those gearheads who seeks the best, look no further.
