Time Out at the Minuteman

Several months back I submitted a post about our trip touring the Boston,MA area with three English Cocker Spaniels. To do this trip justice, I must tell you more about the campground that was our home for nearly a week while enjoyed the area. In our search for a campground/RV park, we perused the Woodall’s guide for camping locations in the Boston area and stumbled upon the Minuteman Campground and RV Park in Littleton, MA, just 30 miles northwest of Boston.

Our site at the Minuteman

Boasting quality family camping and pets welcome, the Minuteman has 93 spacious sites, snuggled among large trees and full hookups. They also have comfort cabins available, as well as a pool and a recreation hall, both of which delighted and occupied our children. During a short bout of rainy weather they were well occupied and prevented from whining by a fierce ping-pong competition in the game hall.

But the most exceptional quality of the Minuteman is its friendly, helpful staff. This was apparent as soon as we checked in to the site we had reserved online (another helpful feature). A tall gentleman stepped out of the building and asked if we’d like some assistance backing into the site. As this has caused a bit of tension between Terry and I in the past, I eagerly accepted his assistance. In fact, when given the opportunity, I will usually reserve a pull-through site if possible to avoid this potential conflict area. Within five minutes, we were parked next to our hook-ups and setting up the camper.

Comfort Cabin at the Minuteman

When we were planning our tour of Boston, the staff at the desk provided us directions and recommended that we leave at a certain time to be able to park in the least expensive location near the downtown area. They also recommended a kennel in the area that would be able to care for our dogs for the day, as we were contemplating boarding them for that part of our trip. We eventually decided to take them along to the city and had a wonderful time. We followed their directions regarding time and parking and had no trouble.

Finally, when the time came to pull out and head for home, the staff went above and beyond the call as well. A family member of a staff member had left the campground about an hour before we were heading out. She had taken the route travelers commonly do when leaving and called back just as we were leaving to tell the staff member of a large accident that had made the interstate for which we were headed essentially a parking lot. The staff member stopped us as we were pulling out of the driveway and had us stop in the office so he could re-route our trip to avoid this standstill. Our trip home was smooth sailing! When we camp in the Boston area again, it will be at the Minuteman! Our daughter enjoyed that trip so much she has decided she wants to attend college in the Boston area!
