Outdoors enthusiasts will be in their element. The tropical, balmy waters of the Gulf of Mexico lie only a few miles to the east. Nearby state parks include Weeki Wachee Springs, Chassahowitzka National Wildlife Refuge, Withlacoochee State Forest, Conner Preserve and Jay B. Starkey Wilderness Preserve. Weeki Wachee is particularly popular, as it’s home live mermaid shows and fun-filled Buccaneer Bay, the only spring-fed water park in the state.

Swimming, boating, kayaking, canoeing and saltwater fishing are among the most popular activities along the Gulf of Mexico Coast. Further inland, the region’s parks are a buzz of activity for hikers, mountain bikers, bird watchers, freshwater fisherman, hunters and nature photographers.

Those with kids will want to check out the Spring Hill Fun Zone on the western edge of town. Batting cages, arcade games and mini golf make it an ideal destination for a change of pace or an impromptu on-the-road birthday bash.

The Nature Coast Botanical Gardens and Nursery are a must-visit for anyone with a green thumb or a love of intricate landscape design. Maintained entirely by volunteers, the gardens span 21 distinctly themed areas that reflect the diversity of the Nature Coast.

Finally, for golfers, there’s the Silverthorn Country Club or the Hernando Oaks Golf and Country Club. Each lies within 15 miles of the city center, and both feature varied course designs that will that challenge and appease all skills levels.

Just an hour north of Tampa, Spring Hill finds itself surrounded by incredible natural attractions that offer an endless supply of family-fun recreation. Stop here, and you’ll find yourself surrounded by a world of outdoor adventure, all of it waiting at your fingertips.
