It is also one of the last great American wilderness area’s yet to be discovered by the parks, come and check out the San Rafael Swell.  The “Swell” is twice as large as the state of Rhode Island and would be an extremely large National Park. There are more than 20 routes and almost 300 miles of amazing country to explore.

Enjoy this awe-inspiring land from your car, Jeep, ATV, side-by-side, dirt bike, mountain bike, horse or on foot. The southern portion of the San Rafael is the location of Black Dragon Canyon. This part is called the San Rafael “Reef”. In this wild and tortured landscape, the “Reef” cuts through deep, sinuous slot canyons adorned with ancestral pueblo rock art panels and emerges as the spectacular eastern cliff line of the San Rafael Swell.
