RVers for Life, from 1961

In 1961 the second summer after we were married, we went camping on a farm, on the river, with another couple. It was late August of 1961, and our son was just a couple of months old. We had a camper cover on our pick-up which I had built a bed across the front next to the cab, across the bed rails. We had a bed/crib in the back for our son. The weather was around 100 degrees and we spent the most of the time in the water. The men took their lawn chairs and went out into the riffle of the river, and set them down holding them down, until we could get sat down into them, and we then sat there with the water just below our chins, with nothing sticking out of the water but our heads, the ladies said it was an awesome sight. We have been committed campers ever since… having worn out 2 pickup trucks with campers traveling the entire USA. We have had 3 travel trailers, 2 Class C motorhomes, and now have a class A, we always tow a car behind out motorhomes.
