RV Tech Tip: Give it a Wedgie

During transit, the sliding tray on my trailer’s storage compartment would move back and forth sideways on its plastic rails, sometimes bending the locking tabs — which are supposed to keep the compartment doors closed.

In order to stop the side-to-side travel, I took some precise measurements and cut two pieces of 3⁄4-inch plywood (one for each side) as shown in the illustrations. The blocks must be cut so that they fit rather snugly. The pieces are wedged against the front of the drawer to block the movement. I installed a stop on each side for the blocks to seat against while in the “locked” position.

Upon arrival at the campsite, the blocks are turned down so the tray can slide back and forth.
