If you’ve seen the movie Gone with the Wind, you’ve gazed on this scene before. This old grist mill was a featured location in the movie, which was made in the 1930s.
In the years since the movie was made, a neighborhood has grown up around the mill, and it’s not the easiest of places to find–take Hwy 167 north from I-40, turn west on McCain Boulevard and watch carefully for roadside signs simply saying “The Old Mill” and having an arrow pointing which way to turn. The first of these is a left turn at the second light. It will surprise you if you’re not watching.
