Nantahala National Forest-North Carolina

Hop in your RV and see some of the most gorgeous scenery in North Carolina. Check out the Nantahala Gorge. Over 18,000 feet and 100 yards wide, it will take your breath away.

The Forest itself is over 530,000 acres. It surpasses the Great Smoky Mountains to the south, crosses over the Tennessee border, into Georgia and meets the Pisgah National Forest to the east. If you love the outdoors, this is the trip for you. You can either, raft or boat the Nantahala River or any of the five other rivers. Get instructions on these rafting trips at the Nantahala Outdoor Center in Bryson City. You can take a drive down the 43-mile Nantahala Byway or take a hike on the Bartram Trail.

You can also visit the Cherokee Indian Reservation located between the Nantahala and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Check out the Museum of the Cherokee Indian with a lot of interactive exhibits and numerous tribal artifacts.
