Ask any 10-year-old boy about Louisville, and he may give you a recommendation to visit the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory where they build the official bat of Major League Baseball. Located right near the waterfront across the river from the Falls of the Ohio State Park, the Slugger Museum is your place to see one-of-a-kind baseball history, learn how they build the bats, try out bats used in Major League games, order your own personalized bat and stroll the mile-long Louisville Slugger Walk of Fame that honors many of the game’s greatest players.
Running through August 12, the museum’s current feature exhibit — Ballparks: From Classic Cathedrals to Concrete Donuts — catalogs the works of renowned photographer Jim Dow who first gained recognition for his portraits of baseball stadiums and minor league parks throughout the U.S. and Canada, as well as a display on artifacts from the Baseball Hall of Fame.
Inside the museum store, which was recently renovated, visitors can stock up on caps, shirts, Bionic Gloves and other sports apparel and accessories. You can also get a personalized baseball bat customized with your favorite team’s logo. A personal full-size bat costs $50, youth and tee ball sizes are $45 and a mini bat size is priced at $20.
A visit to this landmark of America’s favorite pastime is just one of the many optional tours being offered to those attending the Louisville Rally. However, time is running out for reservations, so register for the Louisville Rally today!
