I’m Back!

So where has David been the last few weeks? Well, for the past two weeks, my job has taken me away from the blogs. I am still very busy, but I plan on trying to stay on top of this blog. I do miss it very much but the day job has to take front seat with regards to priorities. As for the previous week….I guess that makes it a month ago….my internet was knocked out by a very bad storm. My wife and I were sitting in our living room watching a movie when a storm rolled into the area. While deeply involved in the movie, there was a loud crack and a boom. You know what I mean…right? The crack or snap noise that takes place when one is very near to a lightening strike. Well, in our case the snap was in the house…..at my computer desk! We lost the cable modem, the router, my desktop PC, the PC speakers, a Directtv multiplexor and a Directtv box. Needless to say, it took me a bit to get back up and running.

Once I got my computer stuff back in order, we had plans of going to my parents place in Kentucky. In fact, the plan was to leave this past Thursday and stay until Tuesday but my Mom and I discussed things and since she wasn’t feeling well and I had a full plate, we both decided that perhaps a visit in a onth or so would be better than right now.

In addition to the huge workload and the other crazy issues, my wife has also been working on quite a project. She is the Learning Center Coordinator at a local elementary school and several years ago, she decided to utilize the large room that she oversees for interactive displays for the kids. We have had a castle, a gold mine, a ship wreck and many other cool displays for the kids. Well, she went above and beyond this year by building a Prairie Schooner Covered Wagon. She and her Dad has have been working on this for quite some time. The whole project has been handmade….from the 52″ wagon wheels to the cover. It has been an amazing thing to watch but it has also been time consuming for us all. We fitted the canopy just today and it looks great so I included a photo of the progress of the wagon.

As some of you know from my previous blog, I wrote about upgrading, possibly to a Class A. Well, I think we decided it just isn’t in the cards at this time, but my dealer will let us know whne the bew Rockwood 8314 comes out and we are planning on looking at it then for a possible upgrade.

Since I had the vacation time scheduled to go down to my Moms place, I decided tgo go ahead and use it as a ‘working’ vacation to get some of the “honey-do” projects. I really wanted to go camping…somewhere, but I was to late to get into most places until I found the ideal retreat! This is one of the best campgounds I have ever stayed at! I am even typing this on my laptop and connected with the wireless. So, what can this great campground be? Well, it’s our very own backyard! So far it has been fun to get things ready and to put our camping hats on and pretend to not be home. I made sure that we did not bring the home phone out to get interuppted and disturb our ‘camping trip’!

So that is what we have been up to lately and I really do hope to keep up with these blogs as I really enjoy writing!

Happy camping and see you next sunday (hopefully).
