Hang On There!

We felt rich after we bought our first camper, a fold-down model with snaps along the bottom of the canvas fold out bunks. We had an ideal time to use it because my husband’s cousin was getting married and our 4 year old was to be a flower girl. So we packed up, my husband , and I plus our daughter and 18 month old baby son. We parked our camper in our cousin’s back yard for the weekend.

The wedding was beautiful and we all headed back to the house for the big picnic reception. It was nap time for our baby, so we put him on our camper bunk because he had fallen asleep. There were many young adults eating and drinking all around the yard and in the house and we were talking to friends with our back to the camper. All at once a young man ran up to us with his arms flailing saying, “Hey Mister, your boy is hanging upside down outside through the flap of your camper!” He was still sound asleep! At that point we figured that we needed to find a better place for him to nap.

To the day, it is very hard to wake him up when he is sleeping, and he is an adult now with kids of his own. I hope he is a better parent than we were. And that is our story with the new camper.
