Find elbow room for Fido in these dog-friendly southwest RV destinations.

Finding places that allow you and your dog to enjoy tourist activities can be tough, but the Southwest’s clear skies, warm climate and wide-open spaces give canines lots of room to roam. Check out these three dog-friendly RV destinations in the Southwest:

1) Moab, Utah

Moab boasts two national parks, but pet restrictions keep dogs from enjoying them. Instead, go have fun on dog-friendly US Forest Service and BLM lands, including the Grandstaff Trail, a stream-side hike located near town. Give the paws a rest and book a dog-friendly rafting trip with the Moab Rafting and Canoe Company. And don’t forget to stop at the Moab Barkery, where you can reward your friend with treats and a soapy bath after fun days exploring.

2) Sedona, Arizona

Picturesque and stunning red rocks of Sedona greet RVers on U.S. State Route 89 in this all-season doggy paradise. Make a home base at any of the Good Sam Parks in and around Sedona and plan on several days exploring Red Rock Country with dog-friendly activities like wine tasting at Oak Creek Vineyards, Sedona jeep tours and happy hour noshing at Whiskers Barkery. As if that’s not enough, hiking on the Devil’s Bridge trail just west of town will be the highlight of your journey.

3) Albuquerque, New Mexico

If the rugged outdoors isn’t quite your style, the rich art and culture of Albuquerque makes a great alternative RV vacation. Get acquainted with the dog-friendly Bookworks store, take a tour with the pet-friendly ABQ Trolley Company and explore the heart of the city’s art, museum and shopping districts. When your pup wants to socialize with other canines, stop by any of the city’s many dog parks located near your Albuquerque RV park home base.

Wherever you travel with your dog in the Southwest, pack plenty of water and be mindful of warm temperatures, which can cause heatstroke during summer. Get all the dog supplies you need at Camping World.
