Did You Attend The Rally 2010? Woodall’s Was There!

Well, the busy Rally has drawn to a close and we Woodall’s gals and guys have (mostly) returned to the office here in Ventura, California from Louisville, Kentucky.  This is not my first time visiting Louisville, and I always find it hospitable and fun!  Here are some highlights of Woodall’s trip to The Rally 2010, and a few Louisville hot spots that you should be sure to visit on your next trip to the Bluegrass State.

RVers showed their wild side with airbrush tatoos at Publications Day

The Rally (formerly known as The Great North American Rally) is a fantastic event for budding and experienced RVers alike. With thousands of brand-new RVs to browse and hundreds of RV accessory vendors to visit, plus seminars, entertainment and great food, RVers are busy for the entire four-day event.

RVers tried their luck, spinning the wheel to win a year subscription to Motorhome Magazine, a Woodall's cookbook, or lots more!

We started off our time at the Rally with “Publications Day” – a half day event that draws thousands of Rally attendees because of its fun-filled activities and the raffle that gives away $15,000 worth of great prizes.  We actually slashed the Woodall’s North American Campground Directory price to only $10 flat for the Publications Day special. They were flying off the tables like hot cakes! (You know, I’ve never understood that expression… “like hot cakes”… but anyway, they were selling fast.)

The Woodall’s booth was also hopping the entire weekend. I love talking to newbie RVers who say what is a Woodall? And I also love hearing from all our long-time users who wouldn’t travel anywhere without their “bible”, the Woodall’s Directory.

The Rally had a special display of vintage RVs too, being that we’re celebrating 100 years of RVing during 2010.  Many of them participated in a caravan with Bob Livingston from the RV Hall of Fame all the way to Louisville before the Rally.  Here are a few photos.

As for what we did in the evenings? Well, I think my favorite thing was eating at Mark’s Feed Store, a fantastic home-town barbeque place where I personally ate more food in an hour than I had eaten in a year!  From fried pickles (yes, they are yummy) to BBQ ribs that gave new meaning to “falling off the bone,” this place was fantastic. I didn’t even mind the glass of wine I had which may have been from a box… not sure.

We also visited Louisville Slugger Museum (can’t find it? Just look for the giant bat) where I picked up a personalized MLB-sized Louisville Slugger for my husband’s anniversary gift for less than $60.

And my third recommendation, if you’re RVing Louisville, KY anytime in the near future is to stop by and see the 21c Hotel Museum.  It’s modern art and sometimes the exhibits are a bit racy, but truly it is full of wonderful works of art. Here’s a tip: Go into the downstairs men’s bathroom, by the elevator. Don’t ask why. Just trust me. (Ladies, you too!)

In all, we had a blast at the Rally this year and I hope you were there too! If you were, write a guest blog post and tell us about your trip! If you weren’t, then hurry up and sign up for the 2011 Rally. Trust me! You’ll love it. (Don’t forget to stop by our booth and say hi. We’d love to meet you!)

Thanks,

Genevieve
