A Colonial Beach RV trip will bring you to the northern tip of Virginia’s Northern Neck. It’s one of the few remaining small port towns on the Potomac River, and visitors here can enjoy both the land and the water.
The town enjoys a unique location nestled between the Potomac River on the east and the waters of Monroe Bay on the West. Catch a glimpse of the symbol of the United States. Bald eagles roost in the area, and there’s a good chance you’ll spot one of the majestic birds wheeling overhead. Other species that visit this bird watching mecca including osprey and wintering waterfowl.
- Visit the birthplaces of U.S. presidents George Washington and James Monroe. The George Washington Birthplace National Monument was created in 1930, becoming one of the first cultural units of the young National Park Service. Walk the grounds that once served as a plantation, and marvel at the 1/10th scale replica of the Washington Monument in D.C.
- Watch the racing action at Colonial Beach Dragway. Sanctioned by the IHRA, this asphalt drag hosts thrilling action as vehicles of all kinds put pedal to the metal to see who’s fastest. Nothing beats seeing the high-powered vehicles in action.

- Monroe Bay, a protected body of water that connects to the Potomac, is a playground for powerboats and sailboats. Hit the water in a vessel or just enjoy a relaxing walk on the shore.
Lounge on the beach, fish from the Pier, paddle a kayak or search for ancient fossilized sharks teeth.
