Casino Camping Update — Reno Nevada RV Parking Ban

A quick post today to bring this to everyone’s attention.  Reno Nevada has started enforcing the overnight parking restriction that has been a local ordinance since 1996.  Over the years there has been sporadic enforcement; although, several casinos made accomodations for RV travelers, especially those of us who are serious players.  It seems even this has come to an end.

Unlike Laughlin, RVers are a tiny fraction of the business for most Reno casinos.  The few casinos in the area that do substantial business with RVers are outside the city limits, or have an RV park, or both.

Here are links to a couple of news articles in the Las Vegas Sun and KTVN Reno channel 2

If you decide to write to Reno officials I recommend avoiding threats of boycot, and be calm and rational.  You might appeal for the rights of property owners (not RVers).  In Reno (unlike Laughlin) our best plan is probably to wait and hope that active enforcement stops and casinos will once again allow us to park.

Even with these events the Reno area is still on my “friendly” list.  There are commercial parks, casinos with RV parks, and casinos outside the city limits where overnighting is still OK.
