A Visit to “The Showboat Branson Belle”

I have been writing in my last few posts about our spring time trips to Silver Dollar City in Branson, MO. On each of our trips to Silver Dollar City and Branson, we chose to also visit the remarkable Showboat Branson Belle. Because we had purchased multiple day tickets for the Theme Park, we received a break on our Showboat cruise but, even without the discount, it was worth the ticket price.

We were able to board approximately an hour before our meal and had a very pleasant time strolling about the deck and enjoying the sunset and mild weather. Cocktails and soft drinks were available on the decks and several groups of singers and musicians were strolling about entertaining the guests.

While photographs were not permitted during the show, it was an experience not to be missed! We were served a sumptuous meal of prime rib and all the fixings, topped off with a flaming Baked Alaska for dessert that about made the kids eyes pop out of their heads the first time they saw it. As we are family that is often sharing special treats such as this, it meant as much that they each got their own separate dessert as the fact that it was on fire when it arrived at the table!

The show was as memorable as the meal. The host was a man who was quite entertaining, performing with his “talking dog” that had the kids enthralled. Even the adults enjoyed the show. And the kids were excited to pet him after the performance.

There was a troupe of four singers and dancers (two couples), called “Steppin’ Out”, that were very good with great voices and fast dance steps that performed throughout the show. But the piece de resistance was a Russian couple performing dance and gymnastics that held us awestruck for their entire performance, challenging the laws of gravity at every turn.

Everyone is aware that Branson is one of the best places to go for music and shows. These two venues, Silver Dollar City and the Showboat Branson Belle, rival the performances on any stage in Branson. If you are headed in the direction of Missouri in your travels this spring, summer or fall, I highly suggest a stop! And Silver Dollar City presents “An Old Time Christmas” in November and December that is worth the trip as well. The Showboat tickets are also available via the Silver Dollar City website at www.silverdollarcity.com.
