A Great Weekend Despite Flipping the Trailer

It was late 1975, we had a 1972 Granville Pontiac, I purchased an 18 foot travel trailer installed a hitch on the Pontiac and me and my wife Bobbie and my two children Debbie and Jack Jr loaded up after work one Friday and hit the road. We left Jacksonville, FL at about 6:00 pm and took Interstate 10 west then Interstate 75 north headed for a friends house in Macon, GA.

Just south of Valdosta, GA the trailer started swaying, I had no idea how to stop the swaying, it flipped over and rested on the back of the Pontiac and covered both lanes of I-10, no one was injured. When the wrecker driver got to us he said when he lifted the trailer back up the wheels would go through the floor and he would have to take it away on a flatbed. Well it didn’t and all was fine, we ended up having a great weekend and we were hooked on camping.

We had several RV’s while the kids were at home and we still have a Motor home that we take the grandkids camping and now they are hooked on camping, some of our fondest memories are camping with our family.
