Organizing your recreational vehicle and saving space go hand in hand. That’s why RV space saving tips are always helpful in organizing your rig.

Your imagination is the limit! Set aside a day where you spend the first quarter taking everything out of the cabinets and storage areas, the second quarter thinking about the multi-functions of each item, and the last half of the day storing and stacking your chosen items.

Instead of storing T-shirts on top of each other so that you have to pull out a whole stack to find one shirt, vertically fold them  almost like a bookcase or filing cabinet, so the folded “spines” of the shirts are visible. This is what a stack of them in a drawer (or a storage box) looks like:

Nest, nest, nest. And think vertical storage whenever possible.

Collapsible/compact bowl sets use 2/3 less space than standard bowls. These bowls are microwave, freezer, and dishwasher safe, and stack on top of each other to save space. They are currently on sale via the Camping World website. The set includes 1.5 cup, 3 cup, and 5 cup bowls with storage lids.

Also available on an Internet sale from Camping World, the Magma 7 Piece Nesting Cookware Set requires less than a half cubic foot of storage space. Each set includes a 2-quart saucepan with lid, 5-quart stock pot, and 10-inch diameter sauté pan/stock pot, with lids for sauté pan and stock pot, sauce pan removable handle with thumb release trigger, and bungee storage cord.

Canvas Shoe Pockets attach to bed base line to neatly store shoes out of the way. Also a handy storage spot for reading glasses, paperbacks, and TV remote control.

Following are additional RV space saving ideas:

  • Pack items that serve more than one function, e.g. toaster oven rather than a toaster
  • Use stacking bins for dry goods rather than keeping the original containers
  • Utilize the inside of your doors
  • Use suction cups to hang small items like kitchen utensils, sunglasses, or keys
  • Screw jar lids into a cabinet ceiling and using accompanying jars to store small items
  • Install hooks on the sides of your shelves
  • Use Velcro to keep your remotes in place
