Red Gate Campground and RV Park - horse ridingFamily-Owned Red Gate Campground & RV Park in Savannah, Georgia, is the best place to stay when visiting the Savannah Area

Six miles from downtown Savannah, Red Gate is the closest RV Park to the historic city. The Red Gate Campground & RV Park is also a trolley stop for “Old Town Trolley Tours Savannah.”  So, just purchase your ticket at the Campground and you won’t have to drive to see all that the “City” has to offer.

With only 30 RV sites, Red Gate Campground & RV Park offers a lot more than might be imagined. Situated on 200 acres, Red Gate has four fishing lakes, horseback riding, a menagerie of animals, and is a birder’s paradise.

The Park features include a pool, swings overlooking the lakes, a 1,200-square foot clubhouse with large-screen TV and pool table, outdoor screened pavilion and a myriad of outdoor games.

Have a large group, don’t want to spend the day with strangers, or want a more exclusive experience?  Red Gate Campground has plenty of room for you and your family or friends to have a private experience!  They also have community events every week.

There’s a separate event center on the property that hosts weddings and family reunions, plus a three-bedroom farmhouse loft that is for rent.

Bird watching is great at Red Gate Campground & RV Park. As a matter of fact, The National Audubon Society comes out once a year to inventory the birds they have on the property. Other animals on the property include horses, goats, chickens and Canada geese.

Red Gate Campground and RV Resort also has Trail Rides on Horseback.  Riding guests climb atop one of nature’s most beautiful creatures and explore the gorgeous scenery Georgia has to offer.  The Horseback Trail Rides include instruction, all necessary riding equipment, and 30, 60 or 90 minutes in the saddle.  Interested in History? The grounds of Red Gate Campground and RV Resort once served as an encampment for Union and Confederate soldiers. So just imagine being on horseback and exploring the grounds under a canopy of moss draped Live Oak trees.

The property has been in the family since 1932 when Harry Martin, acquired the property.  Martin, the great-grandfather of J. D. Smith, who runs the campground, originally used the property as a dairy farm, later the property becoming a sod farm. The campground is pretty much wide open, but has wooded areas as well.

Red Gate Campground & RV Park believes the great outdoors and RV camping should come together naturally!

So, get out and enjoy your vacation the way it was meant to be experienced — in nature!  Red Gate Campground & RV Park is an oasis of Southern Charm waiting to be enjoyed.
