Originally from the “wrong” side of Houston, Kenny Rogers was the first in his family to graduate from high school. As a teenager, he sang in a doo-wop group, The Scholars, and from there joined the New Christy Minstrels in the mid 1960s, Kenny and other group members later splintered off to form The First Edition. Their first big hit, “Ruby, Don’t Take Your Love to Town”, propelled Kenny’s gravelly tones to center stage, and they soon became Kenny Rogers and the First Edition, until they disbanded in the 1970s.
From there, Kenny went solo. He began chalking up a string of country-tinged ‘top 20’ pop hits with “Lucille”, “Don’t Fall in Love With a Dreamer”, “Through the Years”, “We’ve Got Tonight”, and his two #1 hit sellers “Islands in the Stream” (with Dolly Parton) and “Lady”. By the late 1970s, he had sold over $100 million worth of records.
Rogers was named the “Favorite Singer of All Time” in a 1986 PM Magazine/USA Today poll. In 1989, People magazine readers voted him their “Favorite Male Vocalist”, and he has also been awarded the Recording Industry Association of America’s prestigious Diamond Award, celebrating sales of more than 10 million albums for his “Greatest Hits” album.

We are new in the camping world and when we received the letter that said we had several days free camping to go to the rallly we were very excited. We called the day we received the letter for “Free” camping in Daytona for the Good Sam Rally. I was told it was going to cost me over $170.00. I said that is not “Free” We did not end up going for the entire event which we would have like to do, we drove down for one day, but was disappointed in the “Free” camping invitation.? Can you help me understand that?

Good Sam says: The offer that Marcus sent out was for Free Dry Camping at the Daytona Rally. If you requested any additional things like electric hook ups, or to stay extra days this would change the over all cost.

Just came back from the Daytona Rally. It was our first. I was very pleased with the way the staff handled everything with so many people. They were helpful and friendly. The entertainment we great and exhibitions were plentiful. We left later in the Monday morning and was pleased to see the grounds were not loaded with papers, bottles and trash. Hats off to fellow RVer’s. The many pota-pottys were kept clean and there were trash facilities all over to meet our needs. Thanks for inviting us and we had a great time.
