Grand Staircase National Monument Trip

Take a wonderful trip to discover much of Utah driving through Bryce Canyon, one of our amazing National Parks, to Grand Staircase National Monument.  First stop is the town of Tropic after continuing along Scenic Hwy 12.

Tropic is bordered on three sides by acclaimed Bryce Canyon National Park, the town of Tropic is named after its relatively mild climate, which results in colorful fruit blossoms.

Settled by just 15 families in 1892, Tropic is now home to more than 500 residents. Tropic is located on Scenic Byway 12-Utah’s only All-American Road, and welcomes visitors to its Heritage Center Museum. The Museum showcases the area’s diverse natural and cultural history.

Cannonville

Continue on to Cannonville where pioneers settled the town in 187 6 and named it after Mormon Apostle George Q. Cannon.

Visitors can learn about the Mormon settlers as well as the area’s Paiute Indian heritage at the U.S. Bureau of Land Management’s Cannonville Visitor Center.

From there find yourself in the quaint and beautiful town of Escalante. This is a perfect place to stay a few nights and travel out to many breathtaking sights. While in Escalante stay at the new Grand Staircase Resort of Escalante, all new facilities, including modem new restrooms.

You will find the temperatures in Escalante perfect for an escape from the heat. Continue on Scenic Hwy 12 to complete your trip in Torrey, UT.
