Feel the energy of a Texas culture hotspot in Denton.

Denton, Texas, located just north of the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area, is a North Texas cultural hotspot with a fascinating history and an outstanding music scene. Explore the unique shops in Denton’s beautiful courthouse square, take in a show at the historic Campus Theatre, or enjoy the great outdoors at Ray Roberts Lake State Park.

Party on the Lake!

Lake Lewisville is one of the largest lakes in north Texas spanning 29,000 acres with 233 miles of shoreline. This recreational lake is great for fishing, skiing, swimming, relaxing, and recreational boating. There are numerous parks located around the lake and plenty of nice beaches, campgrounds, hiking and biking trails, golf courses, and other outdoor activities. One of the most popular things to do on Lake Lewisville is to go to Party Cove. It is where the party’s at. This cove is where people come to spend their Friday, Saturday, or Sunday in a cove tied up to other boats and listening to party music. There is typically lots of alcohol, swimming, and people having a great time on the lake.

Lone Star Racers

Texas Motor Speedway plays host annually to the only stops in the Lone Star State for the stars of NASCAR and INDYCAR racing such as Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Tony Stewart, Helio Castroneves, Marco Andretti and Juan Pablo Montoya. The racing season schedule for “The Great American Speedway!” centers on three major weekends – the Duck Commander 500 NASCAR doubleheader in April, Firestone 600 INDY/NASCAR doubleheader in June and AAA Texas 500 NASCAR tripleheader in November.

Experience life as a well-to-do Texan in the 19th century at the Bayless-Selby House Museum. The home features all the ornate stylings of the Queen Anne style of architecture, and its rooms are furnished with rare antiques from the time period.  The museum regularly hosts community events such as the Farmers’ Market, the Community Market, live music, storytelling and more.

Courting Denton

Denton’s historic county courthouse is one of the most photographed buildings in Texas, and it’s easy to see why. Completed in 1896, the three-story courthouse’s tan sandstone facade is accented by pink granite columns, while its impressive clock tower towers over four ancillary domes placed on each corner of the structure. These days, the courthouse is a museum that offers a look at the town’s history as far back as when it was first settled and the chance to tour the historic courtroom.
