Maine

Acadia National Park and nearby Bar Harbor have a decidedly dog-friendly vibe. Leashed dogs are welcome on over 145 miles of beautiful trails. Although summer is a great time to visit, consider arriving during the shoulder seasons. If you visit before June 15 or after September 15, your dog can splash on scenic Sand Beach.

Maryland

Eastern RVers with rigs less than 22 feet long can romp with dogs at the four-season Catoctin Mountain Park. The Owens Creek Campground is cozy, but if your RV fits, you can have a ball together on any of the many park hiking trails leading to scenic vistas and waterfalls.

Virginia

Virginia is for lovers, and Shenandoah National Park is for RVers with dogs. Dogs can hike on nearly 400 miles of park trails. Shenandoah probably has more dog-friendly recreation options than any other dog-friendly national park in the east.

North Carolina

Cape Hatteras National Seashore is legendary for its dog-friendly beaches. However, your pet must be on a 6-foot leash at all times, and pets are prohibited within any resource closure. Pets are not allowed on designated swim beaches or in buildings.
