Family Fun in Canada’s Northeast
Canada’s Northeast provinces encompass the past, present and future. Toronto’s busy cityscapes captivate visitors, and a ride up the jaw-dropping CN Tower is a family memory you’ll treasure. New Brunswick
Families visiting New Brunswick may be greeted by French-speaking locals. Experience the Acadian culture with a trip to the northeast coast. This forested maritime province is home to extreme tidal forces, best displayed at Fundy National Park, where you can walk far out on the ocean floor during low tide. Woodlands, marshes, and sand dunes make Kouchibouguac National Park an adventurous choice. Many fishing villages provide charming places to relax and refuel.
Newfoundland/Labrador
Kids are sure to be fascinated by the Viking history of Newfoundland and Labrador. Tour the ships and sod roof houses of L’anse aux Meadow and take a drive along the scenic Viking Trail. The charming fishing villages along the windswept coast provide cozy places to sample the succulent seafood or observe the wildlife. The city of St. John’s is a top pick with kid-friendly museums.
Nova Scotia
As one of Canada’s maritime provinces, Nova Scotia is a seaside retreat — you’re never more than 42 miles from the coast. Take a dip in the waters at the Northumberland Shore. Head to the capital city of Halifax for family fun. Kids will love taking a ride on Theodore the Tugboat. Find your thrills by watching for whales at the Bay of Fundy or taking a whirl on the rides at Upper Clements Theme Park.
Ontario
Canada’s most populated province is packed with family entertainment. Take a ride to the top of Toronto’s CN Tower for epic views of the city below, and then head down to explore the aquarium, science center, zoo, and theme parks. Canada’s capital city of Ottawa offers family-friendly museums and historical attractions. Niagara-on-the-Lake is a charming retreat near the phenomenal Niagara Falls. Truly get away from it all in the pristine wilderness areas found up north.
Prince Edward Island
Prince Edward Island is the stuff of childhood dreams. Build sand castles, go clam digging, or make a splash on the island’s many postcard-worthy beaches. Quebec
The French province of Quebec has so much in store for both children and adults. Active families won’t want to miss hiking through spectacular national parks like Mont-Tremblant and La Mauricie.
