Welcome to New Hampshire

There’s something for everyone in the Granite State, a land where you’ll find rocky alpine peaks, rolling forested backcountry and sandy ocean beachfront. Hit the trails, cruise the coast, hop in a canoe or ride a zip-line—the choice is yours.

Portsmouth is a popular coastal destination, and strolling its historic Market Square waterfront means exploring a world of art galleries, antique shops, curbside cafes and old 17th-century architecture. Further inland, the “big” city of Manchester is home to popular New Hampshire attractions like the Amoskeag Millyard and the Currier Museum of Art. Just down the road in Merrimack, the Anheuser-Busch Brewery offers tours.

If you’re up for a drive, hop on the Mount Washington Auto Road in northern New Hampshire. This 8-mile scenic drive takes you to the top of Mount Washington, the windiest spot in the country. The Mount Washington Observatory Weather Discovery Center at the summit provides guided tours and spectacular views.

Adventure

Life in the Granite State is all about enjoying the great outdoors. And why wouldn’t it be? This is a land filled with rocky mountain peaks, idyllic backcountry fishing creeks and densely forested foothills. The Coastal Lowlands serve up sandy beaches; the New England Upland region is packed with crystal-clear lakes, and the White Mountains are home to dramatic alpine valleys and jagged rock faces. Ready your camera, lace up your hiking boots and strap your kayak to the top of the car—this is a land for exploring.

One of the most popular spots in the state for outdoor fun in the sun is Lake Winnipesaukee in central New Hampshire. The largest lake in the state by far, it’s a great place for the usual fare of boating, swimming and fishing. It’s also home to a series of zip-line courses and an abundance of incredible hiking trails.

In northern New Hampshire, set within vast White Mountain National Forest, is Franconia Notch State Park. Regularly selected as one of the best state parks in the country.

When you’re ready for a break from trekking along mountain trails, head for Hampton Beach State Park on the state’s Atlantic coast, where sandy beachfront is the stepping stone for sailing and fishing.
