1. Alexandra Falls

The rushing Hay River takes a dramatic 105-foot drop at Alexandra Falls. Enjoy the exhilarating view and the deafening roar of cascading waters in one of the most famous falls in Canada. Have a picnic at the site’s day use area. Native lore says the area’s two falls—Alexandra and Louise—are Grandmother and Grandfather spirits who protect the region.

 

2. Louise Falls

1.7 miles, 3 minutes • Nature, Outdoor Recreation

Tramp down 138 steps to the famous overlook where you can drink in the full Louise Falls experience—the Hay River cascading over three tiers of 400-million-year-old limestone cliffs and crags. Explore great hiking trails in the area. Visiting in winter? Louise Falls is a favorite spot for ice climbing adventurers.

3. Lady Evelyn Falls

62.4 miles, 1 hour, 26 minutes • Nature, Outdoor Recreation

Lady Evelyn Falls creates a huge curtain of falling water as the Kakisa River hurtles over limestone cliffs. Walk down a convenient staircase to visit the gorge below the falls. Bring your rod and reel—the fishing’s great. And bring your bathing suit, too—during summer, the water’s warm enough for splashing, wading and swimming.
