1. Lafayette

Starting Point  • Food, History, Nature, Outdoor Recreation, Quirky

“Tippecanoe & Tyler, Too” is more than just a slogan from the 1840 presidential campaign. The 1811 Battle of Tippecanoe, fought near present-day Lafayette, is explored in the area’s Battlefield Museum. You can also trace your family’s history at the nearby Genealogy Center. Take the kids (adults, too) on a science trip to Imagination Station, or sample local brews at the Lafayette Brewing Company. See an antique doll museum, a classic pinball machine collection, and stop and smell the roses as you walk the Heritage Trail along the Wabash River.
