1. Frankenmuth

Starting Point • Food, History, Quirky, Shopping

German immigrants brought with them the craft of brewing beer when they founded Frankenmuth in 1845. Known as central Michigan’s “Little Bavaria,” Frankenmuth is steeped in German tradition, evident in its architecture, festivals and, of course, its food. Try the world-famous Bavarian-style chicken on the menu at many local restaurants. The Lager Mill Brewing Museum features more than 450 craft beers at its store, and the massive Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland is open year-round and filled with all things Christmas.
